What does this site contain?

This is an independent site that provides information about the federal workplace relations system and legislation applying to about 80% of employment in Australia.

The objectives of this site are:

1. To provide information about the current federal workplace relations system and federal legislation in Australia.


2. To provide information about the new Government’s industrial relations policies and about the related legislative changes.


3. To offer independent expert professional assistance and advice about the impact of these changes for businesses, public sector organisations, individual employees and unions.


4. To offer independent expert assistance to companies about the requirements of the Building and Construction Industry Improvement Act 2005 and of the requirements contained in the National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry and the associated implementation Guidelines.

The Workplace Relations Act 1996, which incorporates the changes contained in the former government’s Workplace Relations Act (WorkChoices) Act 2005 and the subsequent major amendments to this legislation in December 2006 and July 2007, may be accessed at www.workplace.gov.au.
